On 14 October, SuperOtium presents MEGASILENT – SUPERVOLCANO, a permanent sound installation by dopeL/R (Mara Miccichè and Marco Mercuzio Peron), developed during their 2025 residency in collaboration with AKHET.
The work combines natural and social sounds recorded in Naples with seismic signals from the Phlegraean Fields, creating a telluric portrait of the Neapolitan soundscape. Installed in one of SuperOtium’s niches, a transducer transforms part of the sound frequencies into vibrations that can be directly perceived by the body, creating an immersive and physical listening experience.
Rather than turning a phenomenon that deeply affects the lives of local residents into a spectacle, the research approaches these constant underground frequencies from an external, respectful perspective, recognising them as an integral part of everyday life in a territory whose complexity can only be fully understood by those who live there.
The evening will also feature the presentation of the catalogue of Look Closer 03 – 7 and 1 artwork in the bedroom, whose exhibition has been extended until 31 January 2027
